The Aurora Ball is readily approaching, and we can OFFICIALLY announce that the theme for the 2024 Ball is the AURORA MIRROR BALL: reflecting on 25 years of supporting the LGBTIQ+ community!
While we can’t reveal too many more details just yet, what we can tell you is that the Aurora Mirror Ball will be held on the 22nd of June! So get your diaries out, save the date, and purchase your tickets or table.
In 1999, a group of friends joined forces with a shared vision of raising funds for the most disadvantaged in the LGBTIQ+ sector, and to have fun while doing it! It was 25 years ago that they hosted their first dinner to commemorate Stonewall and raise vital funds… A quarter of a century later, that dinner has now become the ICONIC Aurora Ball.
Be transported through 25+ years of changemaking as the Aurora Mirror Ball reflects on our past, present, and future. Spend a glamorous evening within the grandeur of Sydney Town Hall, celebrating Aurora and our LGBTIQ+ community. Be reminded of all we have achieved together, inspired to strive for all we seek to accomplish in the years to come, and indulge in all the finery the evening has to offer.
We know that only 5 cents in every $100 received by an Australian charity goes to a registered LGBTIQ+ organisation- BUT together we can change that figure. The Aurora Mirror Ball: is a chance to escape into a world where glamour meets nostalgia, and raise vital funds for LGBTIQ+ community groups who now more than ever need our support.
Join us on Saturday, 22 June at 6pm for an evening of finery, reflection, dancing and other delights as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first Aurora fundraising dinner.
Great news! $155 out of every ticket is tax deductible. All other donations are fully tax deductible, and support Aurora's vital funding for our LGBTIQ+ community! (The Aurora Group - A Ruby Foundation Limited As Trustee For The Aurora Group Trust Fund ABN 14 397 969 239).
Buying a ticket to the Ball is a wonderful first step to help us reach our fundraising target, and will support us to continue to do the work of mobilising resources and boosting funding to LGBTIQ+ led organisations and projects who desperately need it.

What is The Aurora Ball?
After The Aurora Group was established in 1999, our Founders ran their first fundraising dinner in 2000 to commemorate Stonewall and raise funds for the LGBTIQ+ sector. Today that dinner is The Aurora Ball, and it has become an icon in the Sydney LGBTIQ+ calendar! The Ball is a night to celebrate community with community and allies, raise vital funds for the LGBTIQ+ community who now more than ever need our support, and to have fun while doing it!
Each year there is a diverse line-up of hosts and entertainers for our guests to enjoy, including both well-known and up-and-coming names, and a room full of incredible networking opportunities. Additionally, guests have the opportunity to partake in the annual silent auction, live pledge for the Amplify Pride Fund, and of course the best dressed competition! Each Ball has it’s own unique theme, so you can be sure the outfits are set to amaze.
