Community groups can now apply for up to $5000 through Aurora’s Small Grants program.
Organisations who are working to provide a benefit to GLBT communities in NSW and have DGR status can apply for the Small Grants program up until Friday 17 October.
“Aurora’s family of generous supporters donate so that together we can give a helping hand to organisations doing vital work for the GLBT community,” said Aurora Chairperson Adam Niewand.
Last year, $30 000 was awarded to 7 organisations, including:
- The Gender Centre to create a short film and workshop transphobic bullying in schools;
- The Benevolent Society to fund a story book depicting GLBTQI foster carer families;
- Twenty10 to support Camp Out’s overnight ‘camp’ experience for young people, who would benefit from peer support, health and community education and advocacy.
“Community organisations can find it hard to get government funding even though they are changing – and saving – lives,” said Mr Niewand.
“If you need a bit of extra help to continue working for the benefit of GLBT communities in NSW or you have a special project that meets the Aurora Grants criteria, we encourage you to apply.”
Application forms for the Small Grants program are available online at www.auroragroup.com.au.
In addition to the Small Grants program, Aurora’s major grants recipient is Twenty10 incorporating the Gay and Lesbian Counselling Service.
Aurora’s grants programs are made possible because of our supporters – people can donate online at any time at www.auroragroup.com.au.
