Leading LGBT community charity Aurora has become a new partner of the Honour Awards, NSW’s annual event recognising achievements within and contributions to the LGBTI community.

Aurora will now be a co-beneficiary of proceeds from the gala fundraising event in September which will now raise money to fund LGBTI community initiatives supported by Aurora and by ACON, NSW’s leading LGBTI health and HIV/AIDS organisation.

Aurora Chair Adam Niewand says the new partnership will help Aurora increase the support it can provide to LGBT related causes. “Aurora is delighted to be partnering with ACON on this wonderful event for NSW’s LGBTI community,” Mr Niewand says.

“Over the last few years, the Honour Awards has become an important event on the LGBTI community calendar. Not only is it an inspirational celebration of our community, it’s also a fabulously fun cocktail event with a great silent auction and some special celebrity guests, so it fits really well with Aurora’s vision and personality.

“We’re thrilled that through this new fundraising partnership with the Honour Awards, Aurora will be able to help more people in our community by increasing the financial support we provide to a range of LGBTI community initiatives.”

ACON President Mark Orr says the new partnership will help the Honour Awards continue to grow as a community and fundraising event. “The Honour Awards and Aurora are both about celebrating our community, and about people coming together to help others in our community,” Mr Orr says.

“A partnership between the two brings significant benefits to both and we’re delighted to be developing the Honour Awards as a key event for our community by broadening its purpose and appeal. Aurora now joins the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association, Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and SX Magazine as community partners of the Honour Awards and we look forward to involving even more organisations in the future.”
